January dates selected represent the theme “Each One a Treat.” (Awards selected by me for this site only.)
- Which “treat” from the list above catches your attention?
National Soup Month reminded me of soup kitchens. Do you know what soup kitchens are? Soup lines? Learn more about these this month. How can you dish out hope?

In Honor of National Soup Month and Soup Kitchens Everywhere.
- Which “treat” from the list makes you say, “Yes!”
- Why not fill your calendar with “treats” for yourself or others? Notice that many treats don’t require being baked in an oven.
- Think: If I were sick, lonely, sad, or afraid what treat would I appreciate? Do just that for yourself, if you need it, or for someone else who does.
- Write about a time when you shared a treat with someone. Did it help? How could you tell? How did it make you feel?
- Celebrate January by thinking and acting on something else from the treat list above. For example, what would a Blog Blitz look like? Consider visiting more blogs than usual this month. Subscribe to a new one or tell a friend about one you especially like. Have fun!

I don’t like chocolate covered cherries- but I can’t believe there’s a day devoted to them! Here’s a blog that you might find visually beautiful:http://blog.melodyeshore.com

Yes, Carol that is a beautiful post. Thanks for sharing. Such great shots of wildlife and nature. I understand your surprise about chocolate covered cherries having a special day. They are so sweet, they’re hard to eat. Still, they sell big time!

Joan,
Thanks for keeping me encouraged and excited about sharing on my blog. It means a lot to me that you find the posts creative and meaningful. I’ve enjoyed adding original quotes here. Maybe I’ll be listed with the big quoted names one day. 😉

I love the nod to Soup Kitchens. I want to do things for other people in 2016. Never served on a soup line. I think this will be a part of my near future.

Sandy, I’m glad you liked the reference to Soup Kitchens. I admire your determination to do more to help others in 2016. if you’re considering a place to volunteer, consider Inasmuch. People are served at tables by volunteers, much like at a restaurant. Happy New Year!

Let’s hear it for Linda-The-Upbeat-Wonder! My favorite treat to hand out is to compliment a stranger. My favorite treat for me is a hug from someone I love. Happy New Year to all.

Sarah, what a nice compliment–one I’ve never received before! Wow!
I am imagining a warm and touching scene of you complimenting a stranger. You are fun to be with and I know even a stranger would pick up on that whether a compliment was offered or not. The compliment is a plus. I hope 2016 brings you many opportunities to greet strangers warmly and receive hugs from those you love! Thanks so much for commenting here!
Happy New Year!

My gaze zeroed in on National Hugging Day. Everyone needs a hug. Love both banners. And the quote about hope is wonderful. Happy New Year, Linda. Hugs

Tracy, I agree that it’s hard to beat a good hug. Thanks for the compliment about the banners. I’m pleased to hear that you liked my quote about hope. It feels good to share some of my thoughts about “things.”
Keep smiling and giving out hugs!
