“A Writer’s Playground”–A place to find wordplay, writing, and monthly calendar activities for kids and those young at heart.”

“Just Jot It January #24–Compelled to Keep Going” by Linda Martin Andersen

I accepted a challenge for January: Just jot a note and submit.  I can’t participate every remaining day this month, but I will join in when I can.

I decided to create a theme to write about:  I chose “celebrate.”

Today, I Celebrate That I’m Compelled to Keep Going.

Do I ever wonder WHY I write?  Of course.  But when I get discouraged, I know deep down in my heart that I’m compelled to keep going.  Why?  Writing brings me joy and it’s a gift I want to share.  A friend of mine writes an inspirational and informative blog with this message:  Never Give Up.  Meet Joan Y. Edwards here:  https://joanyedwards.wordpress.com/2016/01/16/10-steps-to-triumph-in-2016/

Writing Prompts:

  1. What do you feel compelled to do?
  2. What motivates you to keep going no matter what?
  3. Joan Y. Edwards’ manta is “Never Give Up.”  What’s yours?
  4. Which is harder getting started or completing a project?

Thank you for visiting “A Writer’s Playground.”  Come again soon and bring a friend. Please leave a comment.  I’d love to hear what you’re celebrating today.  Remember that children 13 and under need an adult to comment for them.  For more fun, sign up to follow my blog.  Thank you!

    Dear Linda,
Thanks for mentioning my blog on your blog! How sweet of you!
It’s interesting how we are compelled, called, feel the urge to do certain things in our lives. Writing satisfies an inner need for me to connect with other people in the world around me.

I also have an inner need to help other people keep on going in spite of their feeling like they want to give up. I like to give them another way of looking at their present circumstances so that their vision will be changed to one of hope, a positive feeling about who they are and where they are going.

I hope your readers find a little hope and inspiration to keep on going on my blog!

Thank you for continuing to give people reasons to celebrate! You’re the best.

    Never Give Up
    Joan

    • My pleasure to link to your blog, Joan. It is certainly a good fit for this topic. “Compelled” was the suggested prompt for today. I’m glad we’re both compelled to write. It brought us together as friends! That’s quite a perk! Talk about connecting! I’m sure readers will find inspiration at your blog.

Thanks for commenting so faithfully on all these January posts!

  2. I’m compelled to keep writing. I write stories in my head about what I see around me and then put them down on paper. But I have to edit the stories first to make sure I’m only putting down the viable stories.
At the moment, I’m compelled to sell the book I just had published. So far I’ve sold 43 out of 200 all by myself. Sable Books has sold at least 10 and probably more.
At the moment, I’m also compelled to finish the (I hope) last rewrite of my MG novel, “Emily’s Ride to Courage.” I’m also garnering up the courage to send my PB “Zoë to the Rescue” out to agents.
As we all know, it’s often hard to push ourselves toward our goals. So I salute us all. Sarah

    • Sarah,
I love your process or writing stories in your head first. So pleased at your published sales so far, all by yourself. You are awesome. And you have a MG novel at final rewrite stage and a PB ready to send. Go for submission for the PB. You’ll be so glad you did. I like that you have different things at different stages and keep right on writing. Here’s a salute to you, Sarah! Thanks for sending one to all of us!

  3. Awesome post, Linda. Keep writing you do have a lot to share. Nice to see you promoting Joan’s fabulous blog. 😊

  4. AH…you know my answer. Compelled to finish Half Truths
