“Just Jot It January #27–Celebrating Life in Progress” by Linda Martin Andersen

I accepted a challenge for January: Just jot a note and submit.  I can’t participate every day this month, but I will join in when I can.

I decided to create a theme to write about:  I chose “celebrate.”

Today, I celebrate life in progress.”

Fellow writers and bloggers, I get asked these questions.  Do you?

What are you writing these days?  How’s your writing coming?

At this time, I’m revising some manuscripts, which is something writers are most always doing.  To spice things up a bit, I decided to try something new.  As a participant in Just Jot It January,  I am meeting new bloggers and fortunately I’ve added some new followers.  Both are exciting to me.  Other bloggers will understand.  Today, I’d like to credit  Linda G. Hill for the term “life in progress.”  It’s her blog title.  She is also the one who organized Just Jot It January.  So, I want to thank her for all her hard work to make this a reality.  It is a great experience and I’m glad I joined in.  I hope you’ll check it out too.

Writing Prompts:

  1. What are some common greetings that ask about life in progress?  For example, “What’s up?” Name as many as you can and write a scene where two people meet and ask about each other.
  2. What other phrases can you think of that include the word “life?”  For example, “the beginning of life.”  Write about one of these.
  3. How can you bring “life” to your day?

Thank you for visiting “A Writer’s Playground.”  Come again soon and bring a friend. Please leave a comment.  I’d love to hear what you’re celebrating today.  Remember that children 13 and under need an adult to comment for them.  For more fun, sign up to follow my blog.  Thank you!

I accepted a challenge for January: Just jot a note and submit.  I can’t participate every remaining day this month, but I will join in when I can.

I decided to create a theme to write about:  I chose “celebrate.”

Today, I Celebrate That I’m Compelled to Keep Going.

Do I ever wonder WHY I write?  Of course.  But when I get discouraged, I know deep down in my heart that I’m compelled to keep going.  Why?  Writing brings me joy and it’s a gift I want to share.  A friend of mine writes an inspirational and informative blog with this message:  Never Give Up.  Meet Joan Y. Edwards here:  https://joanyedwards.wordpress.com/2016/01/16/10-steps-to-triumph-in-2016/

Writing Prompts:

  1. What do you feel compelled to do?
  2. What motivates you to keep going no matter what?
  3. Joan Y. Edwards’ manta is “Never Give Up.”  What’s yours?
  4. Which is harder getting started or completing a project?

Just Jot It January #22–Fun Simplicity

“Just Jot It January #22–Fun Simplicity” by Linda Martin Andersen

I accepted a challenge for January: Just jot a note and submit.  I can’t participate every remaining day this month, but I will join in when I can.

I decided to create a theme to write about:  I chose “celebrate” which I combined with today’s prompt, “Fun Simplicity.”

Today, I Celebrate Fun Simplicity

Did you know that “fun” is a basic need?  It’s not just for kids.  Everybody needs it.  There are other basic needs of course, but this is definitely an important one.

If I get grumpy, a self-check often reminds me that it’s time for some fun.  Once an uncle of mine went to see a doctor about a rash on his hands.  The physician asked my uncle who had a stressful job what it was he wanted to do that he wasn’t doing.  My uncle said, “Deep sea fishing.”  After going fishing, his rash was gone.  Hmmm.

Writing Prompts:

  1. Name several things you call fun.  Tell more about something on your list.
  2. Why isn’t “fun” the same for everyone?
  3. What would you say in response to “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy?”
  4. What is your number one favorite way to have fun?

Just Jot It January #21–Excitement is in the Air

I accepted a challenge for January: Just jot a note and submit.  I can’t participate every remaining day this month, but I will join in when I can.

I decided to create a theme to write about:

Today, I Celebrate Excitement is in the Air.

Our area has talk of possible winter precipitation and here in the south that means there’s excitement’s in the air.  Will there be a snow day.? A day off from school?  A delayed opening?  Will there be a chance to build a snowman, go sledding, etc.?

Last night a friend in the Piedmont area saw snow.  We got sleet.  This morning, the ground is clear.  The weather report?   Precipitation should begin before 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.  And for that reason, there’s excitement in the air, although I hope we’re spared the blizzard some places are expected to receive.  In other words, less is better!

Writing Prompts:

  1.  Winter weather can add excitement to the air.  What other things do too?
  2. Have you ever been so excited about something that you thought you would burst?  Tell about it.
  3. Why do you think we say “excitement is in the air” instead of excitement rests on the ground?
  4. When would you say, “less is better?”
