Just for fun, I’m hosting a virtual blog birthday party for the remainder of May 2015. If you are a writer (13+years) and you’d like to attend, please do.
No RSVPs necessary. Instead…
- In the comment section below, please describe your selected virtual mode of transportation and tell how it relates to your writing. For example: My name is Linda Martin Andersen and my current picture book manuscript includes some wild animals (stuffed); therefore, I will arrive at the party on elephant’s back.
- If you have published books, please provide a link to your website or book list in the comment section. Other guests can visit your sites and select topics for socializing with you.
- Check back here throughout the month of May and comment with others who are attending the party. For example: I am guessing that Laura Purdie Salas might arrive at the party on a floating leaf. Why? Because one of her picture books is called, A Leaf Can. If she chooses some other mode of transportation, I could chat with her about that. No need to feel like a wallflower at this party. Too much to talk about.

Thank you for inviting us all to your virtual birthday party. I came here with my character, Carolyn Samuels from my book If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor with her friend/bully Jennifer Taylor in Jennifer’s boyfriend’s car. Brad has this cool BMW and we all had a great time getting here. Though Carolyn and Jennifer barely spoke except for Jennifer to turn around and say “Breathe, Carolyn, breathe” every few minutes.
Jennifer doesn’t eat cake, but Carolyn and Brad and I are looking forward to it.

You can achieve this. Believe it and you can travel in it to the virtual blog party. Afterwards, please transfer your design and experience to paper for future manuscripts.

That’s a great book title for a birthday party, but not the one I purchased. If the title isn’t guessed by the cutoff, you’ll be entered in a random drawing.

Happy Anniversary Ms. Linda. Your blog is enchanting and you’re so inspiring with your commitment to post so regularly. I need to get back at it.
My name is Sarah Maury Swan and I’m riding into your party on my splashy, orange and white Pinto dancing to the tunes of Alison Kraus. Lots of my stories feature horses, including my MG novel, “Emily’s Ride to Courage,” which I hope to publish this fall. Hear a country fiddle playing a jig in 2/4 time and picture a small horse, with an orange (sorrel) body, white legs and belly, white peeking up his barrel by his left front leg and right back leg and a broad streak of white running down his nose. His mane and tail are mostly blond, but with a splash of orange and are very thick. His back is strong and arched slightly up to support me,his rider. His hind legs are reaching so far under himself I can feel them hit the ground under my seat and his front legs are stretched so far past his should I can see the lower part of them as they get ready to land. His neck is arched up and his nose is almost perpendicular to the ground. His ears are perked up, but swiveled back toward me, to show he’s listening to my commands. When we come to the edge of your living room, at my command, we stop squarely and I drop my left hand to my side to salute you. Love, Sarah

What could be better than a orange and white pinto being ridden by you, with country fiddle music playing, as you salute me in my living room. I’m glad I don’t have to try to top this one!
Best of luck to you, Sarah, with MG novel, “Emily’s Ride to Courage.” I hope you do land that publishing deal this fall. That would be something to celebrate big time.
